easyJet stats are flying high

BUDGET airline operator easyJet has seen passenger numbers grow by almost 16 per cent year on year.
Numbers have swelled as the operator carried a fifth more passengers in July this year, compared to June.

Overall, the operator has carried 42 billion passengers in the last 12 months, with 36.2bn in the year to July 2007.

Despite the rising passenger numbers, profits at a number of major airlines, including British Airways and Ryanair, have been hit by rising fuel costs. BA said the industry is facing up to the "worst trading environment" ever seen.

may I be the first to congratulate Easyjet on their remarkable performance. Carrying 7 times the world's population (42 billion in one year) is no mean feat. Their new direct route from Edinburgh to Mars is to be welcomed as well.

May I suggest you get a business reporter on to airline stats the next time you write them up!!! As the previous poster says you are saying that Easyjet carried 42 BILLION passengers in 12 months!! Given that this airline is a shorthaul airline mainly within Europe and that in the whole of Europe the population is roughly 728 Million are you telling me that an airline that does not fly to every European country has carried every single european resident at least 58 times in 12 months?!?! I knew these guys were popular but surely not this popular!!
