easyJet stats are flying high

BUDGET airline operator easyJet has seen passenger numbers grow by almost 16 per cent year on year.
Numbers have swelled as the operator carried a fifth more passengers in July this year, compared to June.
Overall, the operator has carried 42 billion passengers in the last 12 months, with 36.2bn in the year to July 2007.
Despite the rising passenger numbers, profits at a number of major airlines, including British Airways and Ryanair, have been hit by rising fuel costs. BA said the industry is facing up to the "worst trading environment" ever seen.
