Morrisons moves in on rivals' territory
MORRISONS gained market share from its rivals, fresh figures reveal.
The group followed up its impressive 9.5 per cent surge in Christmas sales with an increase in its share of the £32 billion UK grocery market, rising to 11.5 per cent in the three months to 27 January.
Competitors Tesco – the UK's biggest supermarket group – and Sainsbury's – number two – lost out to the Bradford-based group, with market share falls of 5.4 percentage points and 5 points respectively, according to the TNS Worldpanel data.
Meanwhile, Aldi saw a 9.4 point growth in its market share.
