Office plan for old S&N site set for go-ahead

A NEW business scheme is set to be created on the site of the former Scottish & Newcastle offices in Fountainbridge.
Councillors are expected to approve plans next week which would see a four-storey office block created on Dundee Street.
The scheme has been drawn up by Halladale Developments, who have said it will complement the ongoing regeneration of the Fountain brewery site.
In a report to the council's planning committee, the city's head of planning and strategy Alan Henderson said: "The proposed building would sit comfortably within the site and addresses the buildings on either side of Dundee Street. The building would fill a gap in the streetscape and completes this stretch of the road."
The scheme had been criticised by local residents, who said it would lead to overshadowing on neighbouring properties.
However, officials said that it would have little impact on surrounding properties.
