A NEW advert by a Hollywood director is aiming to lure English cinema-goers north of the Border.
The advert by Peter Webber, the man behind Girl With a Pearl Earring, features a couple on a romantic getaway to the Western Isles.
It hit screens in more than 100 cinemas in London, southern England and the Midlands today, as part of a £2.7 million campaign to attract tourists to Scotland.
Webber, who also directed last year's Hannibal Rising and an episode of the cult US drama Six Feet Under, said he enjoyed filming on Barra.
He said: "I spent all of my childhood summers on the Isle of Lewis in my grandmother's croft.
"My mother's family come from North Tolsta and many of my relatives still live there, so it was a delight to film in the region."
VisitScotland said it hopes the 90-second advert will help to boost annual tourism revenues from £4 billion to £6 billion by 2015.
