Sheep

Charollais: Herbie and Allan Kennedy of Wester Parkgate, Dumfries, with a homebred gimmer by a Blyth bred tup and out of a homebred ewe, interbreed at Lesmahagow. Reserve – Robert Paterson of Upper Auchenlay, Dunblane with a two-shear tup bred by Arwyn Thomas.

Blueface Leicester: David and Jane Cruikshank, Broomslie, Palnakie, Castle Douglas with a Ewanstone bred shearling tup by a Clennel tup and out of a Ewanstone dam. Reserve – Drew Brown of Mosshead, Tundergarth, Lockerbie with gimmer by by a Teviot tup and out of a homebred mother, reserve at Ayr.

Swaledale: Arthur Slack of Stoneriggs, Hilton, Appleby with homebred gimmer by an Arthur Sowerby tup and out of homebred ewe. Reserve – John Bradley of Penyghent Farm, Litton, Skipton with a three-shear tup by an Arthur Sowerby tup.

Hebridean: Jane Wilson of Gibshiel, Taset, Hexham with a two-shear tup, Hilltop Mchoach bred by Mike Bate on its first showing. Reserve – Laura Dunlop and Alison Martin of Bonnyton Cottage, Drongan, Ayrshire with a gimmer by Thornley Hugh.

British Rouge: Sue Wilkinson of Langlands Farm, Barningham, Richmond with Langlands Hamish a ram lamb by Rodwood Dynamo and out of Langlands Cynthia. Reserve – Patricia and Roger Imlah of Wood Cottages, Kingsneat, Newmachar, Aberdenshire with Bennachie Gold Girl, a home-bred gimmer by Magherabeg Collin and out of a homebred ewe.

Texel: Steven Renwick of Craig Douglas, Yarow, Selkirk with a three-crop ewe by Watchknowe Iron Man bought as a gimmer in 2005, reserve interbreed at Lesmahagow. Reserve – Douganhill Farms of Orchardton, Palnackie, Castle Douglas with a homebred gimmer by Hullhouse Ma Man and out of a homebred ewe.

Hampshire Down: Jim and Ann Fletcher of Coach Road, Comber, Co Down, N Ireland with a homebred ewe lamb by Loghan Moss Hyperion and out of a hombred ewe. Reserve – Kevin and Anna McCarthy, Mossbank Farm, Ballycreely Road, Comber, Co Down with a homebred gimmer.

Scotch Mule: John and Margaret Kerr of Craigskean Farm, Maybole, Ayrshire with one crop ewe by V1 Ty-Gwyn and out of a Linfairn bred ewe on its first outing. Reserve – Neale McQuitin of High Airyolland, New Luce, Newton Stewart with and April-born ewe lamb by a homebred son of a Riddings sire.

Bleu du Maine: William Baillie of Hillhead of Covington, Biggar with a four-crop homebred ewe by a Jim Goldie tup and out of a homebred ewe on its first showing. Reserve – Willaim Baillie with a two-shear tup.

Zwartbles: Molly Campbell of Easter Cleuchead Cottage, Blacklee Brae, Bonchester Bridge with a gimmer by a Summerwood tup. Reserve – Charles Scott, Viewfields of East Middle, Hawick with Llepan Never Say Die, a shearling ram by a John Rawling tup.

Shetland: Robert E and Jean Meikle of St Baldred's, Tyninghame, Dunbar, East Lothian with St Baldred's Neville a homebred two-shear tup by Rench Dan and out of St Baldred's Nerys. Reserve – Rena Douglas of Cedar Cottage, Old Mill Road, Craigrothie, Cupar with Drum Lucky, a two-crop ewe by St Baldred's Neil and out of a homebred ewe.

Beltex: Jock McMillan of Carse of Clary, Newton Stewart with Clary Lionheart, a homebred shearling ram by Clary Kaiser chief and out of Clary Gina, champion AOB at Carsphairn. Reserve – John Cowan of Brickrow, Auchincruive, Ayr with a one-crop ewe by Cookstone Hamish and out of an Ee-by-gum sired ewe, on its first showing.

Jacob: Edith Crowe of Heughead Farm, Froickheim, Arbroath with Gowanbank Belle, a homebred gimmer by Corachie Glen and out of Veda May. Reserve – Marion Leithead, Belvedere, Cavers, Hawick with Cavers Ramases, a two-shear tup by Casblaid Ramases and out of a homebred ewe.

Goats: Alan Mann of Sunnybrae, Windsole, Auchterarder with Braynusen Bollinger, a four-year-old black and white Anglo-nubian bred by exhibitor. Reserve – Paul Mounter of Pagebank Lodge, Whitworth Lane, Pagebank, Spennymoor, Co Durham with Montrue Mayi a three-year-old white bred by exhibitor.

Horses

Champion of champions for the led horses and ponies at this year's Highland show is the three-year-old Anglo-Arab colt, Moluccas Cinnamon Secret, owned by Mrs S. Grimshaw and produced by Jerome Harforth, Middlesborough.

Reserve was a triumph for the Waxwing stud, Balgonar, Saline, Fife.

The Transy Shetland Pony Stud at Dollar claimed a hat-trick in the St John's Wells Trophy with the Shetland mare and gelding Phoebe of Transy and Ajax of Transy, repeating their success of two years ago at the expense of the Highland pair from Morven Cameron, Home Farm. Strathallan Estate, Auchterarder.

The Sanderson Trophy confined to the Scottish native breeds of Clydesdale horses, Shetland, Highland and Eriskay ponies saw George Baird's Highland mare, Islay of Whitefield, breed leader on the opening day get her champion of champions title over Robert Trotter's Clydesdale mare Ormiston Amelie.

The Cuddy Supreme in-hand championship qualifying competition 2008: Mrs S. Grimshaw, c/o Stanley Grange Stud, Great Ayton, Middlesborough, with colt, Moluccas Cinnamon Secret. Reserve – Miss M. Gethin, c/o Waxwing Stud, Waxwing Farm. Balgonar, Saline, Fife, with mare, Mynach Oriana.

St John's Wells Trophy: The Transy Stud, Dollar, Clackmannanshire, with Phoebe of Transy and Ajax of Transy. Reserve – Morven Campbell, Home Farm, Strathallan Estate, Auchterarder, with Thorn Glory and Tormaukin Bryony.

The Sanderson Trophy: Messrs George M. Baird, West Whitefield, Burelton, Blairgowrie, with mare, Islay of Whitefield. Reserve – Robert Trotter, Ormiston Mains, Tranent, East Lothian, with mare, Ormiston Amelie.

Arabs, Anglo-arabs, and part-bred Arabs in-hand: Moluccas Cinnamon Secret. Reserve – Miss D. Ing and Mrs J. Givens, Overshiels House, Fountainhall, Stow, with mare, Amour Etoile.

Arabs, anglo-arabs and part-bred Arabs under saddle: Mr and Mrs G. and A. Thomson, Cala Na Sith, l Clydesdale Terrace, Cannonholm Road, Auchenheath, Lanark, with gelding, Zydeek. Reserve – Mrs M. Nicoll, Wallaceton Farm, Lugar, Cumnock, Ayrshire, with mare, Willowhill Forget Me Not.

Eriskay Ponies: Mr and Mrs Donald McGillivray, Woodcroft, Pollinaird, Comrie, Perthshire, with filly, Braincroft Thrift. Reserve – Lady F. E. Sanderson, Beckettswfield, Bowden, Melrose with gelding, Baincroft Cameron.

Others

Butter - The Cheese Co. Ltd., Lockerbie Creamery, with salted. Reserve - Caledonian Cheese Co., Commerce Road, Stranraer, with unsalted.

Cheese - The Cheese Co. Ltd., Lockerbie Creamery, with Scottish mature cheddar. Reserve - Alan Brown, Milleraires Farm, Sorbie, Newton Stewart, with Cairnsmore goats cheese.

Ice Cream - Bordoun's Ice Cream, 1 Innellan Drive, Kilmarnock, with vanilla. Reserve - Lickwid Ice Cream Parlour, 35 George Street, Perth with dairy.

Handcrafts - Ms. Jennie Loudon, 23 Spylaw Street, Edinburgh with "Green Man" mask. Reserve - Mrs Jane Currie, Blencathra, Dalmorgan Park, Stirling, with embroidered panel.
