BRITONS are keeping their spirits up during the recession by singing in the shower.
Eight out of ten people feel more positive if they start their day with a singsong.
Monty Python's Always Look on the Bright Side of Life is the nation's favourite song to sing in the shower, beating Lady Gaga's recent hit Poker Face and Abba's disco classic Dancing Queen.
A survey of 1,000 people conducted by Mira Showers found that lyrics such as the Pythons' "When you're chewing on life's gristle, don't grumble, give a whistle" raised the spirits.
Philip Chambon, a lecturer in pop music, said: "The whistling adds to its cheerfulness and the jaunty rhythm creates a rousing sing-along quality."
