'WELCOME Mr President" – words that William Hague, the Conservative foreign affairs spokesman cheekily but perhaps accurately observed would stick in the throat of Gordon Brown should he ever have to receive Tony Blair as the European Union's president in Downing Street.

The prospect that this may become a reality is getting ever closer, as the Czech government moves towards being the 27th and last signatory of the Lisbon Treaty, which will create the post of EU president. And with Mr Blair apparently being touted ...

Blair looks NOTHING LIKE the right man for a job he lobbied to create as a post-retirement number.

He is held in contempt by the Uk electorate, by every polrtical party including, largely, his own. He is privately despised by Europe's big-hitters as a man whose foreign policy outlook consists of just two words: "how high?" These, of course, are uttered when a US President -any US President- says ONE word: "Jump."

No from Muscat Tony. Don't be greedy. We'll never forgive you for the disaster that was/ is Iraq. And the Afghanistan adventure is lasting far too long. Over by Christmas? Was that not John Reid's misguided prophesy? October 2001 October 2009 and counting the body bags. Of course rich kids dont get sent to war zones. Only poor suckers are sent to do the dirty work. Iraq inquiry..... something to clear the air or another almighty cover - up.

Shock Horror Labour supporting journo thinks Blair is great statesman.

The EU Parliament should impeach Blair for his war crimes.

Blair is an established liar. He would not recognise a principle if it sat on his face. He is also a self serving grasping opportunist. Silvio Berlusconi thinks he is a regular guy. David Miliband thinks that because Blair likes to drive in a motorcade he is a politician of stature.
A less suitable candidate would be difficult to imagine.
