Indian suitor for Trinity Mirror
RUMOUR OF THE DAY
SHARES in Trinity Mirror closed up 4 per cent last night after market talk of a possible bid from India's Bennett, Coleman & Company, the newspaper group behind the Times of India and the Economic Times. Trinity Mirror declined to comment.
The British newspaper group's stock last night closed up 3.5p at 92.28p.
Trinity Mirror's titles include the Daily Record, Sunday Mail and Daily Mirror.
Trinity Mirror's revenues fell by 3 per cent to £971.3 million in 2007, following the continued slump in the advertising market. Revenues reflect decreased income from advertising and lower sales from regional newspapers. It announced last week that it was trading comfortably within the covenants for its debt facilities.
