THE not-for-profit business lender DSL Business Finance has invested £30,000 in an Edinburgh start-up which plans to employ up to 50 people within three years by tapping into the $3billion (£1.8bn) "virtual admin" market. From its offices in Charlotte Square, Smart PA provides personal assistant and administrative services to businesses around the world at a fraction of the cost of permanent staff.
This is one of DSL's first investments in an Edinburgh firm. It has provided financial support to small firms in the West of Scotland for 15 years.

DSL can provide finance of up to £30,000 to small and start-up businesses, social enterprises and charities, who may face difficulty obtaining bank loans because of a lack of security, under the government's Enterprise Finance Guarantee scheme.
