MORE than 100 responses have been received so far in the Law Society's flagship consultation to set new standards of service and behaviour for solicitors.
The regulatory body has produced draft guidelines on the appropriate standards of service and conduct that those who want to wear the "badge of solicitor" must uphold.

More Cover-ups from law Society as per usual.

Not interested in bettering the system at-all when lawyers can get away with not interviewing Key defence witnesses before a high court trial as they did in the following case, 16 of 19 witnesses not interviewed and the Law Society do nothing to investigate, WHY ?

2. No Bob, the Law Society has selected members of the DTs very well.After all, no one at the LSS wants a rogue Committee member who might just do the honest thing and actually use the word "guilty" !

What "standards" can anyone expect from the Law Society (formed in 1949) after 60 years of being on the fiddle. Much better to throw it out with the dirty bathwater and start again dont you think ?

I agree with you whole heartedly, Yes start again.

Pity that all the members of Law Society complaints handlers are jumping to SLCC in which case they might come across cases they have already dealt with as Law Society Members and complaints Committee Members.

What is our justice secretary thinking of, allowing this to happen.

By their own standards, people have the right to be treated with respect from their solicitors and expect a competent Solicitor to deal with their cases.
When they can prove their standards slipped, the solicitor should be held accountable and not as happens at present (Swept Under Carpets By Their Colleagues) covered up by their friends who all know each other and will not go against one another.
It's a bit like asking a Doctor to go against another Doctor in the same sugery, No Chance.

The culture to cover up must be abolished, make them admit their mistakes and get on with it, instead of spending thousands and costing legal aid fortunes trying to hide their mistakes

Yes Bob they are being very selective in the way they vet and select members to SLCC.
It is all members from Law Society that have been appointed this way Law Society still has control over which complaints proceed and which don't.

Nice to note Jane Irvine will also chair this committee who also chaired her own complaints against Law Society as SLSO and never done a good job there either.
Wonder how many times she actually held Law Society in contempt or at fault for not investigating complaints fully ?
