THE Evening News has scored a double success at a national newspaper competition.
The News picked up the Best Multimedia Campaign award for its football fan text alert service, which allows readers to keep up to date with everything that is happening at their club.
And the postcode news alert, which allows readers to stay full
y informed about the stories in their area, was highly commended.
Nearly 12,000 fans have signed up to the text alert service.
The prizes were awarded by the UK-wide Newspaper Society at its circulation, editorial and promotions awards ceremony in Birmingham.
The Best Multimedia Campaign award was part of a hat-trick for Scotsman Publications, publisher of the Evening News.
The Scotsman won Best Single Copy Sales Initiative for its free Rosslyn Chapel CD-rom, while Scotland on Sunday won Best In-Paper Reader Offer for its "ex-pat" recruitment campaign, entitled A Little Piece of Scotland in England.
Henry Faure Walker, general manager at Scotsman Publications, said:
This fantastic hat-trick of awards fully recognises the strength and innovation of the marketing programme that we are progressing across all our titles."
