MCGRIGORS, one of the "big four" Scottish law firms, yesterday announced it had acquired the litigation and property teams from London practice Reid Minty.
Some 18 members of staff from Reid Minty – including four partners, two directors and a consultant – will join McGrigors' London office, which already accounts for 35 per cent of the firm's turnover.
McGrigors has 200 staff in its London oper

Reid Minty will continue its personal injury business under the name of RMPI, a limited liability partnership.
Under the terms of the agreement, Andrew Reid, senior partner at Reid Minty, will work for McGrigors as a consultant as well as retaining his role as senior partner of RMPI.
Richard Masters, McGrigors' managing partner, said: "Reid Minty are specialists in litigation, commercial property and the contentious aspects of corporate finance, banking and insolvency. With an established client base including many international clients – particularly in the key energy markets of Russia and the Middle East – the Reid Minty team will be of immediate value as well as a significant long-term asset.
"This merger is very much a part of our continuing drive to grow our London office significantly over the next three years."
He added that McGrigors has grown by more than 45 per cent in the last three years and aims to have a turnover of £100 million by 2011.
