CONSTRUCTION company Rok and pest control firm Rentokil Initial are among firms being investigated by the financial watchdog over a possible failure to reveal information to investors.
Lawyers have noted an increase in inquiries by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) as to whether businesses are keeping their investors fully informed of trading predicaments ahead of issuing profit warnings.
The crackdown could lead to fines and prosecutions.
Sara George, a barrister and former FSA prosecutor, said the regulator was "really hot" on people updating the market promptly.
