BAE Systems will bid this week for the first stage of a £4 billion contract to build armoured reconnaissance vehicles for the British Army, according to reports.
The bid for the order to replace the Scimitar scout vehicle – which is vulnerable to roadside bombs – would pit BAE against US rival General Dynamics. A decision is expected early next year.
