Syngenta to boost research

SYNGENTA yesterday said it would pump £100 million into its agricultural research over the next three years, with up to £75m invested in the biotech group's Grangemouth plant.
Mark Peacock, Syngenta's head of global operations, said: "Global food supply needs to increase by 50 per cent over the next 20 years."
The Grangemouth site is already expanding to deal with demand for azoxystrobin, an ingredient in the fungicide Amistar, Syngenta added.
