SPONSORSHIP of popular TV series Britain's Got Talent has helped Domino's Pizza post a double-digit rise in like-for-like sales, the company said.

The takeaway pizza firm said that it is continuing to grow despite the economic downturn.

In the year to the end of December, like-for-like sales increased by ten per cent, with total sales up 18.4 per cent.

The company, which operates six branches in Edinburgh, said it had opened 52 new stores in the year – two more than it targeted.

Chief executive Chris Moore said: "Our commitment to e- commerce, sponsorship of Britain's Got Talent, and our single-minded focus on providing our customers with the best pizza delivery service in the UK and Ireland, has again resulted in significant growth for our franchisees and shareholders."
