CLAIRE Convery, a student at the Scottish Agricultural College, has been named HE Learner of the Year by Lantra, the skills council for the environmental and land-based sectors.
Convery, pictured, has always been keen on equestrian activities and initially gained an HNC in stud management at Hartbury College in England before working at various breeding establishments. She returned to the SAC campus at Auchincruive, in 2005 to study agriculture.

She said: "I knew the agriculture course would be my best option. The quality of the lecturers makes a big difference, with everyone enthusiastic and knowledgeable in a specific subject."
