SCOTTISH & Newcastle joint owner Carlsberg has announced a deeply-discounted DKr30.5 billion (£3.2bn) rights issue to repay a bridging loan used to buy the Edinburgh-based brewer, in line with January's plans for the deal.
The Danish firm's chief executive said the rights issue would allow Carlsberg to keep its investment-grade credit rating and give it flexibility for possible acquisitions in Asia.

Carlsberg, which bought S&N in a £7.8bn deal in a consortium with Heineken, said its one-for-one offer was at a 40 per cent discount to a closing price of DKr666 on Wednesday.
