EQUITABLE Life said it remained in "serious discussions" about a sale of all or part of its business but stressed it was not in a hurry to do a deal.
The mutual life insurer said it continued to be in talks with other players, but it did not have anything to announce.

Chief executive Charles Thomson said: "We are willing sellers if a deal can be done but we are not forced sellers and we are strong enough to run off the with-profits fund."
