EDINBURGH try hero Mark Robertson has paid tribute to medics who helped ensure he has returned to rugby with a bang – including a try brace last time out.
Winger Robbo will face Newport Gwent Dragons at Rodney Parade tomorrow fresh from becoming the first Edinburgh player in 35 matches to bag a double. That came in the 32-12 win over Scarlets as he put behind him a hip injury which all but wrecked his
debut campaign after signing from Borders.
"To be able to participate in such a good win and have a decent game was brilliant. I'd like to thank everyone who helped me get back to full fitness," he said.
"Last season I didn't feel like I was a proper part of the squad, but now I feel like I'm right in there and I'm enjoying it."
Good things come to those who wait, and Robertson said: "It is like night and day really. It felt like I was never going to get back playing again at one point; it was such a long year out."
Mark's exploits have also earned him a seal of approval for an illustrious source – dad Keith who was part of the 1984 Scottish Grand Slam.
"My Dad said I finished off the tries well and he was pretty happy with how I played," he added.
"He has probably scored a few better himself to be honest, but I've got plenty of time left in order to do that. It was just great for the team to get a good win under our belts.
"The way the two previous games had gone we needed to prove to ourselves and to our supporters that we could perform against the best teams.
"Hopefully that result will trigger a good run of results for the rest of the season. The first two games acted like a kick up the backside for us to help us on our way."
