A CONTROVERSIAL proposal to turn a church hall into flats has been thrown out by the Scottish Government.
Developers wanted to build 11 flats, which locals said would be "ugly", on the former site of the All Nations Christian Fellowship in the Inch.

The city council refused planning permission in December last year, but developers Queensberry Properties appealed to the Scottish Government.

Planning reporter Philip Hutchinson backed the local authority's decision, to the relief of protesters, who had previously said the flats would be out of keeping with the local area at Dinmont Drive.

Local residents will also be keen to keep the hall for use by the community.

Mr Hutchinson said: "The community hall has served functionally and visually as a focal point.

"The community use of this hall has been thrown into doubt because it has been acquired for development.

"I dismiss the appeal and refuse to grant planning permission."

Good!

That area needs more community facilities, not less.

People were kicked out of their community centre by a developer who wanted to build luxury flats-how original!

Well done to those who fought this.
