Green campaign fails to give Superglass the lift it expected

SUPERGLASS, the Stirling insulation company, saw shares dive to a fresh low after the company warned that a government carbon reduction programme had not given it the momentum it expected, meaning profits would be below last year. The firm is also ca
rrying a high level of debt, leaving it exposed to high wholesale credit prices. Shares fell 25p, or 36 per cent, to 44p.

Aberdeen Asset Management fell 5.25p to 127.25p after Evolution Securities downgraded the company with a "sell" note.

Robert Wiseman Dairies was one of Scotland's few companies to improve yesterday ahead of tomorrow's annual general meeting with shareholders. Shares climbed 13p to 333.5p.

Thus settled after Monday's rise, which was driven by Cable & Wireless increasing its offer to 180p. Shares dropped 1.75p to 175.25p.

Cairn Energy, Scotland's largest oil company, retreated in line with falling crude oil prices, down 77p to 3,158p. Dana Petroleum and Venture Production also dropped by around 2 per cent, while Edinburgh-based Melrose Resources bucked the trend, adding 4p to 429p. On Aim, Aberdeen-based oil explorer Ramco continued to fall from recent highs. Shares dropped 13.75p to 59.5p.
