EDINBURGH-BASED housebuilder Applecross has reported a 19 per cent increase in the value of sales over the three months to the end of April, despite a slowdown in the UK housing market.
The firm reported that sales figures for the quarter were £10.7 million compared to £9m for the same period in 2007.

Applecross said the figures indicates continued confidence in house buying at the upper end of the Scottish housing market.

Marketing director Craig Hall said: "2008 has been a particularly busy in sales for Applecross. Our figures show a marked increase in the value of sales compared to last year.

"There appears to be no shortage of homebuyers looking for quality homes in good locations."
