SUPPORT services firm Carillion and its joint venture partner Telent have signed a £1 billion deal to provide support to Openreach, BT's local access network business.
They will offer engineering, support and maintenance services, consolidating work currently carried out by outsourced suppliers.

Openreach explained that working with a single nationwide supplier would "drive up quality and lower our cost base".
