EDINBURGH'S commercial property market has received a boost with the announcement of the first major office pre-let of the year.
Cosmopolitan Investments said it had pre-let the whole of Sighthill's Birch House, which provides 10,000sq ft of office space, to oilfield imaging company M-TEM.

A subsidiary of Oslo-based Petroleum Geo Services, M-TEM was spun out of Edinburgh University in 2004 and was acquired last year for £138 million.

Iain Mercer, group managing director, Cosmopolitan Investments, which is also based in Edinburgh, said: "This deal has two major plus points – the extent of the space taken and the fact that we achieved a pre-let in what is a difficult office market."
