MOBILE phone company Vodafone is to create 200 jobs after announcing plans to roll out a further 50 stores in the UK.
The expansion will take the company's number of stores to 400 as it looks to drive interest in products such as mobile internet and e-mail.
The new stores will begin to appear on the high street and in shopping centres from September, starting wit
h Bristol Cabot Circus and London's White City development, with most up and running by next spring.
A spokeswoman said that the company was looking for locations across the UK, including Scotland, though it is not yet known how many will be north of the Border.
She added: "Until we conclude our search, we are unable to confirm where some of the stores will be. The start of the roll out will begin in Liverpool, Bristol and London."
The expansion comes five months after Vodafone unveiled plans to recruit 300 more retail staff.
Vodafone said each store will have a distinct area for business customers, as well as working handsets so customers can try live services such as mobile internet.
Following a trial with Cable & Wireless, Vodafone said new broadband connections were being rolled out to stores in order to improve the speed of tills and back-office systems.
