A SCOTTISH software company backed by one of Apple's founders predicts a tenfold rise in turnover from the launch of the fourth generation of its programming language.
RunRev, which supplies building blocks for software to Nasa, Siemens and Vienna University, will launch Rev 4 in San Francisco on Wednesday.
Rev 4 uses plain English in its coding rather than lines of complicated instructions and has been designed for use on the internet, allowing writers to create websites and multimedia applications.
Chief executive Kevin Miller believes the move on to the web will grow turnover from £1 million to £10m in three years.
RunRev employs about 20 staff in Edinburgh, Wales and the US – which accounts for 45 per cent of its sales – and won backing from Apple founder Mike Markkula in 2003. Miller, 30, set up RunRev 12 years ago while at James Gillespie's High School in Edinburgh. He said: "This is the most important launch in our history."
