SOFTWARE giant Microsoft said yesterday that it is cutting a further 800 jobs in addition to the 5,000 lay-offs it announced in January.
A spokesman for the firm said the cuts are being made in offices around the globe. The company has not disclosed what specific product groups or job types are affected.

The spokesman said that Microsoft has already shed almost all of the 5,000 jobs announced in January, marking the company's first-ever widespread job losses.

However, Microsoft has said it would continue to hire in key areas such as web search.
