A TRUST run by Standard Life Investments has won an award for smaller companies at a ceremony for investment trusts.
The Edinburgh-based global fund manager won the UK smaller companies category at the Investment Week Investment Trust of the Year Awards 2008.

The awards aimed to highlight trusts that have produced a consistent net asset value performance in the three years to July 2008.

The Standard Life UK Smaller Companies Trust won the award despite stiff competition from the BlackRock Smaller Companies Trust and Invesco Perpetual's Smaller Companies Trust.

Harry Nimmo, manager of the trust, said: "Standard Life Investments' 'focus on change' investment process and the use of our proprietary stock selection matrix have been crucial to delivering performance."
