Bakery chain Greggs finds sales are warming up gently as growth slows
BAKERY chain Greggs has recorded another rise in sales – although at a slower rate than earlier in the year.
The company said that like-for-like sales increased by 4.7 per cent in the 19 weeks to May 10, compared to a rate of 6.2 per cent in the first ten weeks of the year.
It cited reduced footfall on the high street, as well as poor weather and a less favourable pattern of Easter trading, as being a reason for the slowing growth in March and April.
Chairman Derek Netherton said growth in May has been better than in March and April.
