"TEETHING troubles" have already provoked angry outbursts from many a frustrated passenger this week.
But yesterday a dispute over luggage saw supermodel Naomi Campbell arrested and escorted from a plane at Heathrow's Terminal Five on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.

The catwalk star, who has a reputation for losing her temper and was las
t year ordered to undertake community service for throwing a mobile phone at her maid, was put in a cell at the airport, where she was expected to spend the night.

The 37-year-old's latest run-in with the law began when British Airways cabin crew alerted police to a "disturbance" on a plane due to depart for Los Angeles.

It is understood to have followed a lengthy exchange with staff about one of three items of hand baggage the model had attempted to take on board the aircraft.

Following the airline's difficulties – which have seen almost 30,000 bags go missing in recent days – the supermodel was apparently reluctant to place her belongings in the hold.

When police arrived to escort her from the flight, Ms Campbell is said to have assaulted and spat at one of them. She faces up to six months in jail if she is charged with assaulting a police officer.

Passengers reported that the model – who was discovered at the age of 15 by an agency in Covent Garden – was aggressive and abusive to staff and police. Ms Campbell has a notorious temper and is currently facing a lawsuit from her former maid, Gaby Gibson, who claims she was assaulted by the supermodel.

Last year, she pleaded guilty to assault for flinging her jewel-encrusted BlackBerry mobile phone at another maid, Ana Scolavino.

Part of her sentence included a community service punishment at Manhattan's department of sanitation, where she swept, mopped and scrubbed a garage depot for rubbish lorries while wearing a work vest instead of her usual haute couture threads. But in a style befitting a supermodel, she ended the week by sashaying out of the facility, at Pier 36 in Manhattan, in a sequin-encrusted floor-length silver evening gown and stilettos.

A spokeswoman for BAA, which owns Heathrow, said: "Police were called to remove a passenger from a British Airways aircraft. Staff on the aircraft would have called officers."

The airline refused to comment on the disturbance, claiming that data-protection rules prevented them from doing so.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard confirmed: "We were called at 5:11pm to a disturbance at Terminal 5. Officers subsequently attended and a 37-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and was taken to Heathrow police station where she remains. It is quite possible there will be no movement overnight."

Selina Aponte, a publicist for the supermodel, left the Heathrow police station just before 10pm, admitting: "I don't know how long she will be in there."

She said Ms Campbell was flying to the US to visit family and friends and said she had not been able to see the model.

She added: "We have all seen the reports, but I don't know anything."

NOT SO MODEL BEHAVIOUR

NAOMI Campbell has attributed her fiery temper to lingering resentment toward her father for abandoning her as a child.

Last year, she allegedly unleashed a tirade of abuse when she turned up just 11 minutes before the scheduled take-off of a BA plane from Heathrow and demanded that she be allowed to board.

In 2000, she pleaded guilty to attacking her personal assistant Georgina Galanis, who told a Canadian court the model hit her with a phone and threatened to throw her out of a moving car in Toronto. She agreed to attend anger management classes.

this woman needs more than anger management classes. She needs to be locked up this time. Enough is enough. I know someone whose father left when she was little and she doesn't assaultpeople when things don't go her way, Throw her in jail! If one of us "ordinary" people pulled a stunt at an airport, we'd certainly be incarcerated. She is no better than the rest of us.

Why can't we comment on the article about bombing planes?

#2 - I agree with you. The company should seek some kind of banning order preventing her from flying with them and they should refuse to take any bookings from her.
And as for (allegedly) spitting on a police officer, he should be seeking compensation as well.

But I bet she gets off with it because she's a Diva.

We cant comment on the article about bombing planes, because that'll offend the muslims...and we cant be doing that now can we...after all, its the religion of peace eh ?

And lock naomi up. ban her from flying.

She may be known for wearing high class garments, but she has proved time and again that she has NO class. I hope they ban her from the airline and jail her. She needs a bit of a reality check. All she is is a lucky, but talentless woman who can make a frock look good.

Probably the only reason she is allowed to travel is that she travels first class and that brings in loads of cash for BA.

I think a ban by all the major airlines causing her to travel with Ryanair for a few months would work wonders for her temper!

The reson we cannot comment on th4e bombing plot is because it is "Sub Judicie" (appologies for the spelling). Meaning comment could prevent a fair trial. Nothing to do with offending Muslims, Idiot.

#1 Kitti Kat hit the nail on the head. Since "beauty is as beauty does" where does that leave Ms Campbell? At age 37 she's a bit long in the tooth for "diva drama". Her father's leaving is merely THE CAUSE OF and not THE REASON FOR such bad behavior. The REAL reason for her tantrums is her inability to properly deal with what is causing it and taking on THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR her actions. She lives alone in fantasy land.

#1 bang on. You or I would have been jailed for the first Philipino maid we hit.

She bemoans the fact there are so few black women on magazine covers today whilst ignoring the fact in any image conscious business that her appalling behaviour over the last 20 years might have a slightest tiniest taddiest bit to do with it.

I agree. She does need a sharp shock by spending some time in prison but she definitely needs anger management classes as she has been getting away with her dreadful temper tantrums for too long now.
Who does she think she is? So she's a top model? So what? She's nothing special. Just too highly paid and thinks too much of herself.

I agree that a short sharp imprisonment would calm her temper down a tad. She has had her own way for years and people fawning over her and she can't cope with not getting her own way. It's time she got a reality check.

British Airways and Ferrovial/BAA used their paying customers and staff as guinea pigs and banned reporters from filming the T5 kerfuffle; whilst I must not condone Ms Campbell's behaviour, I bet there are loads of travellers who now realise that 'ba' stands for bluddy awful. But the cabin staff are ok.

I quote Biker from Ayr

"The reson we cannot comment on th4e bombing plot is because it is "Sub Judicie" (appologies for the spelling). Meaning comment could prevent a fair trial. Nothing to do with offending Muslims, Idiot"

After that attempt to spell, one would have thought using the word " idiot " at the end. May have been a little ill judged eh ?

I was fully aware of why it couldn't have been been printed. I was using sarcastic humour. But clearly, like your spelling, your understanding of such forms of humour, leave a lot to be desired.

Have a nice day.
