BA suffers drop in passenger numbers

BRITISH Airways carried 7.3 per cent fewer passengers last month than in May 2008, the airline has announced.
Just under 2.76 million travellers flew with BA in May 2009, compared with nearly 2.98 million in the same month last year. The biggest dip in passenger numbers was on Asia Pacific routes.

Apparently Willie Walsh has blamed passengers being demanding on the drop in profits. Maybe he should look closer to home at what BA is offering, together with the absolutely terrible facilities and services provided by BAA. To fly anywhere these days you are more often than not forced to fly via Heathrow or Gatwick. Heathrow T5 is much better but the other terminals and Gatwick are disgracefully dated, shabby and grungy, while the ground services provided (allegedly) by BAA are nothing short of an abomination.

BA should bring back hubs such as Birmingham, Bristol, Newcastle, Manchester and so on for people travelling to and from regions away from London. This eases the congestion at Heathrow and would do away with the so-called need for another runway. It would also reduce the travel time and hassles people have getting to and from the London airports, when they live in cities which already have airports but are not able to fly from them!

Yes it's that simple, - if you're not as good you don't get business. BA cuts an early EDI connection and loses all the MiddleEast trade that can't get back to work for Sunday morning. Air France via Beirut was cheaper and quicker for me.
Lufthansa operates multiple hubs. AirFranceKLM has created a versatile 2-hub network. Istanbul is clean and convenient. BA forces customers against into their Bad Decision T5, and wonders why they go elsewhere

I am not surprised by the drop in passengers, I travelled to Edinburgh from the USA last november and needed wheelchair assistance on my journey. I was met and dumped in the middle of terminal 5 by a person who said they should not even be pushing a wheelchair. I was told to watch the TV screens for my connecting flight.
I know they do not employ the wheelchair company, but they do state that they look after their passengers with disabilities.
I struggled through the airport and in the end I was taken to a flight which was out in the airport because terminal 5 was not completed.
After portracted time of complaining to BA they eventually offered me a $300.00 voucher towards my next flight and I told them their offer was a waste of time because I would not be flying with them again.
Ps. I have traveled to Scotland with BA 3 times in the last 2 years and on 2 of these occasions I and some of my friends lost our luggage and did not receive it back for at least 4 days.
High time BA put passengers first, they would not be losing them if they did.
