THE Scottish Government has welcomed news that Nationwide is to take over the social housing book of the Dunfermline Building Society.
The Bank of England announced that Nationwide has been selected as the preferred bidder after a competitive auction process.

Nationwide is the second biggest lender to housing associations in the UK, but in recent years has been inactive in the Scottish market.

Housing Minister Alex Neil said: "I welcome Nationwide as a new active lender to the social housing community in Scotland."
