Confidence is key for Fortis

THE new chief of Fortis yesterday sought to win back confidence in the Belgian-Dutch financial services group.
Herman Verwilst, who took over as chief executive on Friday after Jean-Paul Votron quit, said the group's clients should not worry about their savings. His comments sparked a recovery in the firm's share price.
