BRADFORD & Bingley's shares tumbled yesterday after it unveiled a £300 million rights issue. B&B will ask shareholders – including 850,000 private investors – to take up its offer of 16 new shares for every 25 currently held.
The buy-to-let specialist said the move will offset previously announced falls in the value of investments. The fully underwritten share issue is at a price of 82p, a discount of 48 per cent on the company's closing figure last night.
