Landsdowne ponders flotation

LANSDOWNE Partners, which owns a 10.4 per cent stake in Aberdeen Asset Management, is believed to be considering a public flotation to raise cash, which would allow it to hit the acquisition trail.
The hedge fund group has admitted at a US conference that it was mulling a possible IPO, which analysts claim would value it at more than £1 billion.

Its holding in AAM, which it has previously referred to as a "passive investment", is worth £95 million. Morgan Stanley, which owns 19 per cent of Lansdowne, also owns 3 per cent of AAM.
