Peter Chernin must inhabit a different planet to most people who read the FT. The FT operates to high standards of journalistic accuracy and integrity and is, very largely, independent of political bias. Regrettably neither of these three attributes readily come to mind with Mr Murdoch's publications and Mr Chernin's arrogance indicates that he has forgotten the maxim - the pen is mighter than the sword.

It takes a long time to establish a quality reputation so if Mr Chernin has a 10 year time horizon, he might just get level with the FT.

Good grief Peter Chernin - what are you LIKE!? Too many machismo pills ? In my tiny opinion there is room for both the F.T. - a world class outfit - AND Mister Chernin's recently purchased organ. Good luck to them BOTH.
