It's good that all existing staff will be kept on, are theywilling and able to relocate to China where all Dellproduct is now assembled.
Dell product is assembled throughout the world, not just in China. Dell does support local manf. Don't be so negative. This is a +ve step for a local company to grow & add jobs.
Good! Now maby I can get a Scottish Rep to help me w/puter problems instead of the reps is India that I can't understand!
Arthur - did you even read the article? Ex-pat is correct, don't be so negative and don't jump to conclusions. The article didn't mention anything about hardware. Au contraire, ACS is a SERVICES company and is "the largest indigenous Microsoft partner is Scotland". Last I saw, the only hw Microsoft makes is Zune, some keyboards, mice and the XBox, which have zero to do with ACS' business. ACS is in a whole different market (services based around Microsoft products - probably Outlook, Exchange, Sharepoint and SQL) than the rest of Dell, which makes hw. This will be a great opportunity for people with Microsoft skills to hone those skills and apply them in business solutions around Scotland, UK and Europe. Microsoft business is growing in Europe, as is Dell, so ACS can also grow with them and add more jobs and people.
Arthur; most Dell stuff sold in Europe is made in Limerick in Ireland at a 4,000 employee facility. Servers, laptops PC"s. as I recall. They are a big customer of my employers in London and I have been there twice. Some place. Certainly not a screwdriver operation. Dell also have their European HQ in Dublin employing another 1,000 +.If Dell are looking to become a major player in Scotland then I would advise a warm welcome !
