Heineken has won partial approval from the European Commission to buy parts of Scottish & Newcastle, in the takeover also involving Carlsberg.
The commission cleared Heineken's purchase of S&N's assets in Britain, Belgium, Finland and Portugal but referred the acquisition of the Irish assets to Irish competition authorities.
