PUBLISHER Bloomsbury today said it is confident that the book trade would continue to be in a strong position in the run-up to Christmas, despite credit crunch effects.
The company said all its major imprints continued to perform as expected thanks to the success of novels such as The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini and JK Rowling's Tales of Beedle Bard.

In a statement, the firm said it has a strong publishing programme in the lead up to Christmas and is confident that, with their relatively low retail prices, books will "continue to be in demand".
