Appraisals are a 'waste of time'

ONE in three workers who receive an appraisal at work think the exercise was a waste of time, partly because their boss was not always honest with them, a new report said.
One in four also felt their manager regarded the annual review as simply a "tick box" exercise.

Well it was a weird idea when they introduced it, I believe the theory was that any company with more than ten staff would not know their names, where they stayed or convey to them on a regular basis how they did their job. I got paid 200 quid to go on a course to learn about this invaluable technique. My staff at the time (30) said it was OK with them if I did not want to bother with it
