Turnover falls at Herald newspapers

NEWSQUEST (Herald & Times), owner of The Herald, Sunday Herald and Glasgow Evening Times newspapers, has announced a fall in profits and a £1.5 million decline in turnover.
US media giant Gannett, which owns the titles, unveiled pre-tax profits of £23.8m, down from £24.1m for its Scottish arm. Turnover declined to £86.8m to December 30 2007, compared to £88.3m to the end of December the year before.

The three Scottish titles accounted for 26.7 per cent of Gannett's UK profits last year.
