A LEADING design agency based in the Capital has seen a surge in business as retailers attempt to improve their premises to win the consumer pound.
David Dunn, managing director of Leith-based 442 Design, said as the credit crunch bites and redundancies rise, independent retailers need cost-effective design to help buck the trend of falling sales and attract consumers.
"Now more than ever a sense of stand out and light relief is needed, especially by retailers," he said.
"With doom and gloom at every turn, consumers need to be inspired as well as offered value.
"The principle applies to all sectors of business where companies are working harder for consumer spend."
Among 442's clients are Tesco, American Express, Pernod Ricard, Balfour Beatty and Jane Davidson.
