THE government's sinister scheme to make us all buy expensive identity cards just got a lot more sinister. The soon-to-be reshuffled Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith, has announced she is pressing on with a trial of "biometric" ID cards, to be held in Manchester.
This comes barely a week after the man who first dreamt up the ID card project, former home secretary David Blunkett, admitted he'd gone off the idea and we should use passports instead.

The UK has now got to such a state after a decade of Blair-Brown's so called socialist policies where no amount of New Labour spin can change the picture into anything other than that of a very sick country, what with the lowest standards in public life, the out-of-touch justice system, the draconian powers the police and public officials have been granted, the massive intrusive surveillance of the populace, the nanny state, the ruinous benefits dependency culture, unfettered public service bureaucracy, runaway government spending, and the ruined national economy.

Margaret Thatcher's main legacy was fear and the militarisation of the police to the extent that large numbers of the thinking classes are now openly voicing THEIR fears of Britain sliding towards a Police State.

Fear was taken up by London Labour as a social driver and has greatly reduced the quality of life for young and old in this country.

We are now fighting a vanguard action to stave off the Surveillance State before we paint ourselves into a corner where everyone's restrictions are limited because of Robotic STATE directives backed up by computer systems (and no doubt real Robots within 10 to 15 years).

Let's hope the growing clamour to halt and hopefully REVERSE the Surveillance State is not too late. If it is it will make the problems of climate change seem relatively insignificant.
