COFFEE Republic yesterday said a "toughening climate" was responsible for a recent fall in sales.
The chain's like-for-like sales for the six months to the end of September dipped 0.2 per cent.

The figures suggest caffeine lovers may be sacrificing their morning latte to save pounds as belts are tightened in the credit crunch.

Comparative sales for the first quarter to 29 June had been 2.5 per cent up, signalling a significant downturn in the last three months.
