THE new Hotel du Vin in Edinburgh has traded well in its early days, its owner said.
Marylebone Warwick Balfour (MWB) opened the new hotel on Bristo Place last month. It said that all four of the new hotels it opened in the second half of 2008 "traded well since opening".
The company, which also owns the Malmaison chain, including a hotel in Leith, said general trading had been "firm" in 2008 with occupancy rates maintained at 79 per cent and average room rates staying at £115.
However, it added that food and beverage takings were marginally down, which reflected "tougher trading conditions".
MWB also said its subsidiary Business Exchange, which operates a serviced office at 9-10 St Andrew Square in the Capital, has maintained occupancy levels at 90 per cent throughout the year.
