EDF has declared its bid for East Kilbride-based nuclear operator British Energy wholly unconditional, after revealing it now controlled more than 96 per cent of the company's shares.
Paris-based EDF already had commitments to sell shares from the UK government and two of British Energy's largest private shareholders.

Yesterday is said it had gained control of more than 90 per cent of BE's shares. This is the last remaining hurdle to the deal as EU clearance was given last month.
