THE organisers of AgriScot, Scotland's biggest winter farming event have confirmed that livestock exhibiting is back on the agenda this year.
AgriScot, which will be staged at Ingliston on 19 November, is widely recognised as one the leading events for dairy cattle in the UK. However, last year no livestock were on show as a result of disease-related movement restrictions.

Martin Dare,
the event organiser, said: "We were delighted to run a successful show last year even without livestock and there is an even wider range of attractions at this year's event. However, there is no doubt that the dairy competitions bring that extra edge to AgriScot."

Alex Gray from Langside, near Lanark, will select the overall dairy champion. Gray is one of the top judges in the country having officiated at all of the major shows throughout the UK. His herd of Ayrshire and Red Holstein cattle is among the best there is and indeed one of the Langside senior cows took the Ayrshire championship at AgriScot in 2006.

But before Gray steps into the ring to choose his champion, the individual breeds will come under the scrutiny of a Welshman and two English judges.

Iwan Rhys Morgan will place the Jersey entries, while the Holsteins will be judged by David Tomlinson, who is the current chairman of Holstein UK. Peter Berresford from near Buxton in Derbyshire will judge the Ayrshires. His 130 cows won the Ayrshire herd championship in his home county last year.
