MED issues a profit warning
THE Edinburgh-based maker of the world's smallest television screen has warned that monthly profitability will be delayed until 2009.
The statement by MicroEmissive Displays (MED), which was spun out of Edinburgh and Napier universities, resulted in more than half of the company's value being wiped out as shares fell to a record low of 12.25p. But Bill Miller, the company's chief executive, said that the company remains in a healthy state.
"Last year we shipped about 5,000 units, this year we've shipped 100,000 units already and we're growing quarter by quarter."
"That's not a business or technology that's dying or has nowhere to go. Quite the opposite."
